This year, we had the incredible honor of not just attending the Rochester Pride Parade—but being in it! And wow… what a difference that makes.

We’ve cheered from the sidewalks in years past, waving flags, clapping for the floats, soaking in the colors, the joy, the laughter. But walking down the parade route, inside that sea of celebration, was a whole new kind of magic.

Being in the parade means locking eyes with people on the sidelines—families, allies, teens holding hands for the first time in public, elders who’ve marched before us—and seeing them see you. It’s waving and being waved back at with full hearts. It’s hearing shouts of encouragement and feeling the pulse of music and movement beneath your feet. It’s being part of something alive.

Rochester showed up and showed out. The streets were lined with so many beautiful people—diverse, vibrant, full of light and authenticity. You could feel the love everywhere. It wrapped around us like sunshine. Strangers shouted “I follow your page!”, held up heart hands, and handed out encouragement and support like it was candy. We laughed, we danced, we even cried a little—because moments like these remind you that you’re not alone, and that this community is powerful.

We’re so grateful to the people of Rochester for opening their arms to us. For welcoming us not just as guests, but as family. For creating a space where joy and resistance could live side by side. Where we could be seen, be loud, and be loved.

Let’s keep the queer joy flowing and show up at The Great NY State Fair for Pride day on August 22nd where we are excited to be your grand marshal of the Pride parade.
